Always to Remember
An expedition concentrating on memorials, monuments, how we honor historic events and lives lost, and how we as individuals remember those we love. The focus was on the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial as students constructed a replica of the memorial with the names of the Maine veterans whose lives were lost. A timeline of the Vietnam era and a directory were also made by students. In Art class students sketched, designed, and created a personal memorial for someone important in their lives. Students wrote a descriptive essay on that person, as well as an artist’s statement, and a reflection piece about what they learned about the expedition.
