What’s Your Passion / Real World / My Path to the future / it's up to me
Essential Questions:
How can my passion become my career?
What would my education plan look like if I chose this career?
How does what I am learning now effect my choices in the future?
What do I need to do now to prepare myself to be successful in my chosen career path?
What are my options in high school and beyond?
What do I need to be financially successful based on the salary of my chosen career path?
Goal: The educational choices that I make this year and next will determine how well I’ll be prepared to pursue my careers in the future.

Planning for one's future takes time, thoughtfulness, and exposure to ideas. Our 8th graders start making decisions for their high school experience that set them on a path for their futures. First, students will learn about merit based successes, or successful people that overcame adversities. Students will reflect on their own development by writing a personal narrative that is shared with their peers at our “coffee house”. This will be published through an online publishing site and printed. Then and finally, students will plan their next future steps by identifying their interests, strengths, and skills in context of financial budgeting, high school class offerings, and future career interests. Their plan will be shared with high school seniors and their families before meeting with Morse High School guidance. Career Day mingling with professionals and field work at the career day.
